Golf Courses
Although North Texas harbors most of the championship courses, there are a few top choices to select from in the City of Dallas. The Keeton Park Golf Course, scenically aligned with beautiful pecan trees, offers 18 holes of challenging play. A fury of ponds creates baffling obstacles that give the best of players a run for their money, but that's not to say that less skilled players, who may plunk a few into the water, still can't enjoy a day out on this course.
The Cowboys Golf Club features 18 holes of green grandeur. Stay focused for the split fairway on the 9th hole. Play to the right, and you'll be pleasantly surprised with your drive. For those looking to take home the green jacket, a venture north to Flower Mound reveals some of the most pristine courses in the world such as Augusta National and Winged Foot.
Tennis Time
Dallas has a couple of public spots for you to ace your partner at. Fair Oaks has 15 lighted courts for additional night play, along with the option to swing baseliners with an astoundingly accurate ball machine. The Fretz Park Tennis Center has tennis and racquet ball courts, along with summer tournaments for youngsters who may aspire to go pro one day.
Shooting Ranges
Truth be known, Texans are serious about their firearms. So that means there's plenty of opportunity to shoot a round in Dallas. Try pummeling off a few shells at the Gun Club & Training Center. Forgot your gun and goggles? Don't fret; you can rent pistols, rifles, revolvers, shotguns and even submachine guns.
Biking & Running & Relaxing & Rollerblading
White Rock Lake offers a great scenic path for biking, running, jogging and rollerblading. Just nearby is the Dallas Arboretum which has a great park for picnics, along with live concerts during the summer months.
